Designing a Silk Wedding Bouquet

Creating Attractive Wreaths

A simple but beautiful way to decorate your porch is to add a wreath to your door. Wreaths vary in many ways: the materials used, the shape chosen, the style emulated. You just need a foam ring and some silk flowers to get started. Take the flowers and cut off the stems about one inch from the calyx, or bottom of the flower. Next, decide how you want the flowers to be arranged, and add them individually to the ring by pushing the stems into the foam. As you add the flowers, it is a good idea to dot them with a little glue from a hot glue gun at the point where the stem comes out of the foam. Adding leaves or vines to your wreath works well for extra decoration or for covering up bare spots. Color coordination can be used to match the seasons, or if you like a natural look, any variety of flower colors will work. Finally, choose what part of the wreath you want on “top” and tie a string around that area so that you can hang it on the door.

Silk tulips are definitely in the top five in terms of popularity for silk flowers. A tulip is easily recognized by its petals and design. Tulips can meet a variety of home decor needs. They are dissimilar to many other popular flowers in that they do not have any sort of stigma that consigns them to a certain holiday or time of year. Another immensely popular flower, the rose, is one type of flower that has a lot of stereotypical meanings attached, limiting it in ways that the tulip is not limited. Tulips are also great when there is not a lot of space available, as opposed to many silk flower arrangements, plants, or trees, which may require a lot of space to look good. Tulips arrangement placement within a home can be very flexible as they work very well as backgrounds for more elaborate flowers, or can stand alone if desired.
